Isn’t it odd how when you are studying something, be it a car to buy or a topic you’re studying in class, that BAM! The car, the topic, or whatever seems to be everywhere. When I was in high school I used to feel that I was much more responsible for the cosmic convergence. Nowadays, I’m just grateful for the company and I leave the causal questions to others.

Dr. Jack Kervorkian as portrayed by Al Pacino. Brilliant. Will I watch it on HBO? Probably.

There’s a superb review on the Los Angeles Times.

In the HBO film “You Don’t Know Jack,” there is something both familiar and unsettling in the man’s visage when it first comes into view. It’s hard to place precisely, but after taking in the obstinate rhetoric, the throwback glasses and the wan smile, we think we know this guy. Oh yeah, Dr. Death, the man with the mortally friendly bedside manner.

Or maybe not. The makers of the film, a biopic about Jack Kevorkian, the physician who became notorious for assisting over 130 suicides, would argue that even though many know of him, they don’t really understand him.

Bloggers are aghast at news that a $150 million movie about the life of Islam founder Muhammad is in the works. Islam prohibits visual depictions of the prophet, and the film’s producer is Hollywood heavyweight Barrie Osborne, whose credits include the Lord of the Rings Trilogy book-to-screen adaptation and the first Matrix movie. He’s set to begin work on the Muhammad movie in 2011, after he wraps up “Kingdom Come,” a biopic on Jesus Christ.
